Homework

a poem by C.A. Craig

i walked in after…

hmmm… i dont know

3, 4 hours outside

working in your yard.

i lay on your bed

while you worked on homework.

i know i know i know.

im sweaty. im gross. im covered in work.

and when i lay down

my matted face

 buried in the mattress

my arms at my side.

i feel like i could sleep

for a million years

or at least an hour.

my imagination runs

and pictures you coming in

hugging me or saying hello.

then that thought is so loud

so clear in my head

“i just want to be loved”.

there was a time

neither of us can recall

when my body became sweaty

because i became wrapped up in you.

for hours we tossed and tumbled.

we became work.

we became play.

we became dance.

now im just doing work in your yard

while youre doing your homework.

and i begin to drift to sleep.

Here's a poem: Algae by CA Craig This is- simultaneously- both/and a poem and a story. This is the discovery of algae fresh on a pond....

Something kind, I suppose

by me I never knew how the hummingbird perches until I saw his stop at the dying tree outside my house. Hello friend, could this be home?...
