Shall we?

a poem by C.A. Craig

Ithaka! Remember that name?

The shore, the land, daydreams and visions.

One day you’ll be there. May I join you?

May we journey together? Destination

in sight of maps and memories. Will

you though invite me on this journey?

This searching for truth and purpose.

You, yes, you are headed there.

Your mind is set, your heart it follows

I see you and your travels.

I long for the sails that

carry you there. Yes, I love

the smell of salt in the air

as we stand together and look to distant lands.

Shall we?

Something kind, I suppose

by me I never knew how the hummingbird perches until I saw his stop at the dying tree outside my house. Hello friend, could this be home?...
