Before I Ever Knew.

a poem by CA Craig
Sometimes I become quite concerned
with the heat in my chest,
shortness of breath.
Lungs existing in the inhale and exhale,
welcome here my loved one,
my wonder,
my queen.
Do you buzz around communicating insecurities?
How do I show you love?
Do I dance?
Sometimes I know the measure of shaking hands
in battery daydreams of ill repute,
undeniable cause
unrelinquished salvation.
I know I’m burning. I am a mass.
I am cosmic explosions. I am fiery reactions.
When I’m to be my own light,
who helps me see?
Sometimes I see my eyes in yours,
the twinkle of good, a spark of hope.
Can I be that which sets your heart aflame?
I’ll never know the cost of everything
because it was yours before you asked
and before I ever knew.
