a poem by CA Craig

I know as I read your words

with my limited ability to focus,

I did, as I always do.

I presumed to know more than you.

And I know, god, I’m so convinced,

that if I could take the hubris

that so fills up my being,

I would knife it and let it bleed

before it bleeds me of any chance

that I have left to live.
