"No More" Means Nothing

a poem by CA Craig

Driving from work I knew what would happen.

I knew you would be there.

I knew you would be ready.

I knew those messages I sent

the poetry within

I knew you would be open.

And you opened your door.

And I said, “After this, no more.”

And we laid down so slowly

with such haste, no time to waste

because this was forever just for the moment,

just before the death of us.

My declaration sincere

in a moment of lust.

I have lost my own trust.

I have discovered a truth

as your waist titled closer

as your hands pressed down

on my hands

on my wrists

on my chest.

“No more” means nothing.

Promises are always broken

to get a glimpse again of heaven.
